How to Make

Add 2 cans of dark kidney beans (drained and rinsed) to a pot.

Add seasoning mix, rice, and 3 cups water. Bring to a boil.

Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 10–25 minutes, or until rice is tender. Extra liquid will remain.
Optional: Add 14–16 oz smoked sausage.
If using dry beans:
In a large saucepan, add 4 1/2 cups water, 1 tsp salt, and 1 1/2 cups beans. Bring to a rolling boil. Remove from heat, stir well, cover, and let sit for 30 minutes. Drain beans in a colander.
Return beans to saucepan and add 5 cups water and seasoning packet. Stir well, cover, and simmer for 1 1/2 to 2 hours or until beans are almost tender. Add rice, cover, and simmer for 20–25 minutes.
